Breast Thermography different?
Mammography, ultrasound, MRI, and other structural imaging tools rely primarily on finding a physical tumor.
DITI is based on detecting the heat produced by metabolic changes associated with a tumor’s development and growth shown in the increased blood vessel circulation. By detecting small changes in normal blood vessel activity, infrared imaging may find thermal signs suggesting a pre-cancerous state of the breast or the growth of an early tumor that is not yet big enough to be detected by physical examination, mammography, or other types of structural imaging.
Mammograms can be difficult or misinterpreted in women who are on hormone replacements, nursing or have fibrocystic, large, dense, or even enhanced breasts.
These types of breast differences do not cause any difficulties in Breast Thermography.
Breast Thermography is not to be used as a replacement for a mammogram, however, they can provide early detection and assist in breast health maintenance.
